‘Spa’ toilets

Challenge:
Developing new sanitary facilities that offer a high-quality experience, at the same price per square metre as the old, low-quality ones.
Design:
MV Architects
Client:
Schiphol Group
Result:

An oasis of calm, using lots of natural materials and soft pastel colours, and full of practical details. For example, each cubicle has ample storage for a coat and bag. A family room with a large and a mini toilet allows parents and children to use the same space, and indirect lighting is used rather than the harsh, unflattering illumination often found in facilities of this kind.
This new concept has improved the average user satisfaction rating from 6.1 to 8.3.
We also achieved the project’s financial goal: the same costs for the same number of square metres.
