Turning an empty and unprofitable lounge at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport into an iconic area, doubling its turnover per square metre.
Creneau, MV Architects, Studio Linse and others
The lounge is now an advertisement for the Netherlands and its products and designs. It features new restaurants, including a Dutch Kitchen with authentic specialities such as herring, croquettes, poffertjes (mini-pancakes) and syrup waffles; a cocktail bar; and shops selling flowers and other typical Dutch produce. Cosy ‘living rooms’ with pianos and reading tables add the finishing touches.
This new concept has increased the average visitor rating from 'insufficient' to 'excellent'.
The turnover per square metre has risen by 125%.
